  • Access Control Installation

    Access Control Installation

Keys are the weakest part of most buildings. When a member of staff leaves or a tenant moves out and the key is not returned, the only real fix is changing the lock and reissuing to everybody. In a building with any turnover, that becomes expensive, and it rarely gets done, which means nobody can say with confidence who currently holds access. Urgent Electrical Services installs access control and door entry systems across Nottingham and the East Midlands that replace that uncertainty with a record you control. A lost fob is cancelled in seconds. A contractor is given access to one door for one week. A departing employee is removed from the system before they reach the car park. We install proximity fob and card readers, keypads, audio and video door entry, and multi-door networked systems administered from one place. For blocks of flats and houses in multiple occupation, we fit intercom systems that let residents see and admit callers, with trade release for deliveries where it is wanted. For commercial sites we set permissions by door, by person and by time, so cleaners, delivery drivers and office staff each reach only what they should, when they should. Door hardware is chosen to match the door and its use. Magnetic locks, electric strikes and motorised units all behave differently, and specifying the wrong one produces a door that binds, fails to secure, or wears out in a year of heavy traffic. The safety interface matters as much as the security. Every door we install has compliant emergency egress, with green break-glass units and free mechanical exit where required, and locks released automatically on fire alarm activation where the building demands it. Doors on an escape route must never depend on someone finding a fob in an emergency, and we install and test to that principle without exception.

  • CCTV Installation

    CCTV Installation

A camera system is only worth having if the footage stands up when you actually need it. Too many installations in Nottingham are sold on camera count alone, then produce grainy night-time images that identify nobody and recordings that overwrite themselves before anyone thinks to look. Urgent Electrical Services designs and installs CCTV across Nottingham and the East Midlands with the emphasis on usable evidence. We survey the property first, establish what each camera is actually meant to achieve, and position equipment to suit — a camera covering an entrance for facial identification needs different placement and lens choice from one monitoring a yard for general activity. Our installations use IP cameras recording to a network video recorder, with infrared or low-light capability sized to the darkness of the location rather than the specification sheet. Cabling is run properly and discreetly, terminated to standard, and powered from a protected supply so the system does not silently drop offline. You get remote viewing on your phone, configured and demonstrated before we leave, and recording retention set to a period that suits your risk rather than whatever the box defaulted to. Because we are electrical contractors first, the supply, containment and earthing side is done to BS 7671 rather than left to a security fitter working around your electrics. That matters most on commercial sites where cameras share containment with other services. We install for homeowners concerned about vehicles and access, landlords managing shared entrances at multi-occupancy properties, and businesses covering retail floors, warehouses, yards and loading bays. Every system is handed over with a written record of camera positions and coverage, which is what you will need if you are asked to demonstrate GDPR compliance as a business operator. Systems can be extended later as premises change. We keep installations to open standards wherever possible, so you are not locked into one manufacturer or forced to replace a working recorder to add two cameras.

  • Commercial Electrician

    Commercial Electrician

NICEIC-approved commercial electricians serving Nottingham and the East Midlands since 2014, combining 24/7 emergency response with certified compliance work — EICR, PAT testing, fire alarm testing, and emergency lighting certification, all to BS 7671 standards. Commercial electrical problems cost you differently than domestic ones. A tripping distribution board costs trading hours. An overdue EICR risks landlord compliance. An untested fire alarm is a legal liability under the Fire Safety Order 2005. We handle emergency callouts and scheduled compliance work with fixed, upfront pricing agreed before we start — no surprises on the invoice. We work across offices, retail units, warehouses, industrial sites, restaurants, healthcare premises, and landlords managing commercial portfolios — coordinating EICR renewals and PAT testing across multiple properties so nothing gets missed between tenancies. Whether you need an urgent fault fixed today or ongoing compliance managed for a growing portfolio, our commercial electricians are ready across Nottingham and the East Midlands. Book online today, or call for immediate emergency assistance.

  • Domestic Electrical Services

    Domestic Electrical Services

Rented property carries obligations that owner-occupied homes do not. Since 2020, private landlords in England must have the electrical installation inspected at least every five years, supply the report to tenants within 28 days, and complete any remedial work identified as C1 or C2 within 28 days of receiving it. Miss those windows and the penalties fall on the landlord, not the electrician. Urgent Electrical Services provides domestic electrical services across Nottingham and the East Midlands for landlords, letting agents, managing agents and homeowners. We have worked in Nottingham housing since 2014, and a large share of it is rental stock where the paperwork matters as much as the wiring. For landlords and agents we carry out EICR inspections, issue the report promptly rather than weeks later, and quote remedial work separately so you can see exactly what is required to reach a satisfactory outcome and what is merely recommended. C1 and C2 items are what render a report unsatisfactory; C3 items do not. Plenty of contractors do not make that distinction clear, and landlords end up paying for work they were never obliged to do. We arrange access directly with tenants, attend when we say we will, and send certification straight to whoever holds the compliance file. For portfolios we track renewal dates across every property so nothing lapses quietly. Alongside compliance work we handle the full range of domestic electrical work: consumer unit replacement, fault finding, socket and lighting installation, extractor fans, electric showers, EV chargers and rewiring. Everything is installed to BS 7671 and notified under Part P where required. All engineers are NICEIC approved and fully insured, prices are fixed before work starts, and out-of-hours attendance is available when a tenant is left without power.

  • EICR for Social Housing

    EICR for Social Housing

From 1 May 2026, social housing tenancies came under the same electrical safety rules that have applied to private rented homes since 2020 — housing associations and social landlords need a valid EICR in place for every property covered by the new rules by 1 November 2026. An EICR has to be carried out at least every 5 years by a qualified electrician, and any dangerous (C1) or potentially dangerous (C2) finding has to be fixed within 28 days of the report, or sooner if the report sets an earlier deadline. The civil penalty for non-compliance is up to £40,000 per breach. We carry out EICR inspections for landlords and housing providers across Nottingham and the East Midlands, with one fixed price per property and certificates issued after satisfactory completion — book online for a single property or get in touch for a whole portfolio.

  • Electrical Certificates

    Electrical Certificates

Whether you need an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for new work, a Minor Works Certificate (MEIWC) for a smaller job, Part P Building Regulations compliance, or a full compliance report, our NICEIC-approved electricians issue accurate, same-day certification for homes and businesses across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Every certificate confirms your electrical work meets current BS 7671 wiring regulations, giving you the documentation needed for insurance, property sales, mortgage applications, or building control sign-off. Looking for a full property condition report instead of a certificate for specific work? See our EICR Nottingham page.

  • Electrical Contractors

    Electrical Contractors

Most electrical firms in Nottingham are set up for householders. That works until you need a contractor who can price from a drawing, work to a programme, produce RAMS before arriving on site, and hand over documentation an approving body will accept. Urgent Electrical Services has operated as an NICEIC approved electrical contractor across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands since 2014. We work for facilities managers, property managers, main contractors, landlords with portfolios and business owners who need electrical work delivered to a schedule rather than squeezed between domestic call-outs. Our commercial and industrial work covers new installations and fit-outs, distribution board and switchgear replacement, three-phase supplies, containment and cable management, LED lighting schemes, power distribution for machinery, and remedial work following inspection. Everything is installed to BS 7671 and certified on completion. Alongside project work, we hold planned maintenance contracts. Fixed inspection intervals for EICR, emergency lighting, fire alarm and PAT testing are scheduled so certificates never lapse and compliance evidence is ready before anyone asks for it. For multi-site clients, we keep a single record across every property, which removes the usual scramble of chasing certificates from four different contractors. We tender competitively and quote from drawings or specifications. Where a schedule of rates suits you better than job-by-job pricing, we will work that way. Accounts are available for established clients. Because we also run genuine 24-hour cover, contract clients get out-of-hours response as part of the relationship rather than as an emergency premium from a company that has never seen the building. An engineer attending your site at midnight already knows where the boards are. All engineers are qualified in current wiring regulations and carry full public liability insurance. We provide RAMS, work under CDM where applicable, and supply certification, test results and asset records in whatever format your compliance system needs.

  • Electrical Fault Finding

    Electrical Fault Finding

Anyone can reset a tripped breaker. Finding out why it tripped is the actual job, and it is where most electrical work goes wrong — the breaker goes back up, everyone moves on, and the same fault returns a fortnight later with the cause never established. Urgent Electrical Services carries out systematic electrical fault finding across Nottingham and the East Midlands. Faults are traced by test and measurement rather than guesswork, using insulation resistance testing, earth leakage measurement and progressive circuit isolation to narrow the problem down to a specific cable, accessory or appliance. That method costs a little more time on site than swapping parts, hopefully, and it is the reason our engineers usually leave having fixed the fault rather than having changed something. Intermittent faults are the ones that defeat most attempts. An RCD that trips only when it rains, a circuit that fails when the immersion heater runs, lights that dim when an appliance starts — these come from moisture ingress, a deteriorating connection, cumulative earth leakage across several circuits, or a neutral fault that only shows under load. We test for the conditions that trigger them rather than waiting to be lucky. Every job starts with making the installation safe, then establishing what changed and when. Old cabling reaching the end of its life, rodent damage in a loft, a nail through a cable from recent building work, a failing appliance dragging a whole circuit down — the history usually points at the answer faster than the meter does. You get a plain explanation of what was wrong, what we did, and whether anything else on the installation needs attention. Where the cause turns out to be a failing board, Fuse Box & Consumer Unit Replacement can follow the same visit, and damaged accessories are dealt with through Socket Replacement. Faults needing attention immediately are covered by our Emergency Electrician service, and where testing reveals wider problems, we can carry out a full Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) .

  • Electrical Maintenance Services

    Electrical Maintenance Services

Reactive electrical repairs almost always cost more than planned maintenance — not just in money, but in the disruption of dealing with a fault that's already caused a problem, rather than one that was caught before it did. Our NICEIC-approved electricians provide ongoing electrical maintenance contracts across Nottingham and the East Midlands, built around scheduled inspections that catch developing faults before they turn into downtime, unplanned costs, or genuine safety risks. Whether you're a landlord managing multiple rental properties and trying to keep on top of renewal dates, a commercial electrician client wanting to avoid unexpected electrical failures, or a homeowner who'd rather have regular checks than wait for something to go wrong, we build a maintenance plan around what you actually need. Commercial and industrial sites often benefit from more frequent visits than a single domestic property, and we scope the right interval during an initial assessment rather than guessing. Every maintenance visit is fully documented, with any developing issues flagged clearly and quoted separately before we act on them. We can also coordinate your EICR and PAT testing renewal dates as part of the same maintenance relationship, so certificates don't quietly lapse while everything else is being managed, and tie in fire alarm testing if your premises require it. All work is completed to BS 7671 wiring standards by fully qualified, NICEIC-approved engineers, with fixed, transparent pricing agreed upfront. We cover businesses and landlords across Nottingham and throughout the East Midlands, including Derby and Leicester. • Emergency Lighting Installation

    Emergency Lighting Installation

Emergency lighting guides people safely to an exit if the power fails — but only if it's actually fitted, and fitted correctly to cover the real escape routes of your specific building, not a generic assumption of where people might go. Our NICEIC-approved electricians install new emergency lighting systems across Nottingham and the East Midlands, for offices, retail units, warehouses, HMOs and other premises where emergency lighting is a legal requirement, working alongside our wider commercial electrician service. We start by assessing your building's actual layout and escape routes, rather than working from a generic template, then design a system that provides genuine coverage where it's needed — stairwells, corridors, final exits, and any area where the primary lighting supply could realistically fail. This is the same level of detail we bring to related compliance work like fire alarm testing and EICR inspections, since all of it feeds into the same overall picture of a genuinely safe building, not just a technically compliant one on paper. Once designed, we supply and install the fittings, battery backup, and any required exit signage, then fully test and commission the system to BS 5839 standards. This page covers new installations specifically — if you already have a system in place, our separate testing and maintenance service keeps it compliant through regular inspection, rather than needing a full reinstall. Every job is quoted at a fixed price before work begins, and we cover businesses across Nottingham and areas including Leicester and Chesterfield. Book a site assessment online today to get your emergency lighting properly designed and installed.

  • Emergency Lighting

    Emergency Lighting

When the mains fails in an occupied building, people have to find their way out in the dark — often through a corridor they have walked a hundred times but never in blackness, and never among others trying to do the same. Emergency lighting exists for those few minutes, and it is the one system in a building that is almost never used and must work perfectly the first time it is. Urgent Electrical Services designs, installs and tests emergency lighting across Nottingham and the East Midlands to BS 5266, with the layout driven by the escape routes in your fire risk assessment rather than by fitting a light every so many metres. Illuminating an escape route properly means covering the points that actually matter: every change of direction, each staircase and step, final exits, and the locations of call points and firefighting equipment. Open areas above a certain size need anti-panic lighting so people can reach a defined route at all, and high-risk task areas need enough light for machinery to be shut down safely. We install maintained fittings, which stay lit at all times and suit places of assembly, and non-maintained fittings, which illuminate only when the supply fails and suit offices and workplaces. Self-contained units with integral batteries are the usual choice, while central battery systems are worth considering on larger sites where testing dozens of individual fittings becomes the real cost. Getting the design right is what avoids the two common failures: too few fittings to satisfy an inspector, or a system so oversized that annual testing becomes a burden nobody keeps up. Every installation is commissioned with photometric compliance confirmed and handed over with certification and a logbook. We interface systems with Fire Alarm Installation where activation must trigger lighting, keep Access Control Installation lit at their release points, and can complete any accompanying Electrical Certificates in the same visit. Ongoing compliance is covered by Emergency Lighting Periodic Inspection and Testing, which BS 5266 requires monthly and annually.

  • Fire Alarm Installation Nottingham

    Fire Alarm Installation Nottingham

A fire alarm is a legal instrument as much as a safety one. If the wrong category of system is installed, or the right one is installed and never properly certified, the building fails its fire risk assessment regardless of how much equipment is fixed to the walls. That responsibility sits with the Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, not with whoever fitted it. Urgent Electrical Services designs, installs and certifies fire alarm systems across Nottingham and the East Midlands, specified to BS 5839 and driven by your fire risk assessment rather than a stock package. For commercial premises, that means establishing the correct category under BS 5839-1 first — whether the system protects life throughout the building, covers escape routes only, or extends to property protection — before any equipment is chosen. For flats, houses in multiple occupation and rented homes, we work to the BS 5839-6 grades and LD categories your local authority or licensing scheme requires. We install conventional systems where zoning is straightforward, and addressable systems where the panel needs to identify the exact device in alarm. In a large or subdivided building, that difference decides whether a fault takes ten minutes to find or half a day, and we will tell you plainly which your premises genuinely justifies. Detection is matched to each space. Optical, heat and multi-sensor detectors suit different rooms, and the commonest cause of nuisance activation is the wrong type fitted in a kitchen, plant room or dusty store. Sounders, beacons and manual call points are positioned to meet audibility and escape route requirements. Fire systems rarely stand alone. We interface panels with Emergency Lighting so escape routes stay lit when the supply fails, and with Access Control Installation where locked doors must release automatically on activation. Where a building is being brought up to standard, the wider Electrical Certificates work can be completed in the same visit. Every installation is commissioned, certified and handed over with a logbook. We also provide Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing, since BS 5839 requires periodic servicing for a system to remain compliant.

  • Garden Lighting Installation Nottingham

    Garden Lighting Installation Nottingham

Good garden lighting can completely change how your outdoor space looks and feels after dark. From subtle lighting around planting and pathways to practical lighting for patios, seating areas and entertaining spaces, the right setup can make your garden much more enjoyable to use. At Urgent Electrical, we install garden lighting for homeowners across Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking to add a few lights to an existing garden or want to create a complete outdoor lighting setup, we can help plan and install the electrical side of the system. Garden lighting can be used in many different ways. Pathway lighting can help illuminate routes through the garden, while wall and feature lighting can highlight particular areas of your property. Patio and seating areas can benefit from practical lighting, while carefully positioned lights can bring attention to trees, planting, walls and other features. We can also install lighting around garden rooms, garages, driveways, patios and other outdoor areas. If you already have outdoor lighting that is no longer working properly or you want to update an older installation, we can assess the existing setup and recommend a suitable solution. Every garden is different, so we consider where the lighting is needed, how the space is used and where the electrical supply can be installed before carrying out the work. The aim is to create a reliable installation that works well with your home and outdoor space. Our process starts with an online E-Survey. You can provide details about your garden, the areas you want illuminated and the type of lighting you're considering. We'll then review the information, provide a clear quotation and arrange a suitable date for the installation. Whether you're upgrading your garden, creating a new entertaining space or simply want your outdoor space to look better after dark, professionally installed garden lighting can make a noticeable difference.

  • Garden Power Installation Nottingham

    Garden Power Installation Nottingham

Garden power makes it easier to use your outdoor space without relying on extension leads running from inside the house. Whether you need an outdoor socket for garden equipment, power for a garden office, electricity for a hot tub or a dedicated supply for another outdoor feature, we can install a safe and practical solution for your home. At Urgent Electrical, we install garden power for homeowners across Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Every installation is planned around how you actually want to use your garden, rather than simply adding a socket wherever it is easiest. We can install outdoor sockets, dedicated supplies and power points for a range of uses, including garden rooms, home offices, sheds, workshops, hot tubs, water features, garden equipment and outdoor entertainment areas. Where appropriate, we can also provide power for garden lighting and other electrical equipment as part of the same installation. Outdoor electrical installations need to be suitable for the environment they are being installed in. We use appropriate outdoor-rated equipment and consider the location, cable routes, protection and how the installation will be used before carrying out the work. Our process starts with an online E-Survey, allowing us to understand what you need and assess the installation before arranging the work. Once we have the information required, we can provide a clear quotation and arrange a suitable date for your installation. If you're creating a better outdoor space, adding a garden room or simply need reliable power outside, having the right electrical supply can make a huge difference to how you use your garden.

  • Home Lighting Installation

    Home Lighting Installation

Good lighting changes how a home actually feels to live in, not just what it looks like in photographs — the difference between a kitchen that's flat and functional and one that's genuinely pleasant to spend time in often comes down to how the lighting was planned. Our NICEIC-approved electricians install home lighting across Nottingham, from straightforward pendant and downlight fittings through to full lighting plans designed around a renovation or new build, and if security is part of the brief too, we cover that alongside general lighting via our security lighting installation service. We cover dimmer circuits for rooms that need to shift between bright and relaxed depending on the time of day, feature lighting to highlight specific areas, and outdoor lighting that genuinely extends how much you use your garden or patio once it gets dark. If you're not entirely sure what you want yet, that's fine — we can talk through realistic options based on your rooms and how you actually use them, and if your consumer unit needs assessing to support new circuits, our residential electrician team can handle that as part of the same visit. Every installation is wired safely to current UK standards, with particular care taken in bathrooms and other zones with specific safety requirements. Whether it's a single room upgrade or lighting planned across a full renovation, every job is quoted at a fixed price before we start, carried out by fully insured, NICEIC-approved electricians, and tested and certified to BS 7671 standards on completion. We cover homes across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands, including Derby and Mansfield. • House Wiring & Rewiring

House wiring is the fixed electrical installation running through your property — the cables, circuits, sockets, lighting points, switches and consumer unit that carry power from the incoming supply to every room. Over time, that wiring ages, and older systems installed decades ago were never designed for the demands of a modern home running an induction hob, EV charger, electric shower and a house full of devices. Urgent Electrical Services carries out full rewires, partial rewires and new-build first and second fix wiring for homeowners, landlords and developers across Nottingham and the East Midlands. A full rewire replaces the entire installation, including new circuits, a new consumer unit and updated earthing and bonding. A partial rewire tackles only the sections that have failed testing or no longer meet requirements — often the lighting circuits, an old kitchen ring or a garage supply — which keeps disruption and cost down where the rest of the installation is sound. Homes usually need rewiring because of rubber, lead or fabric-sheathed cabling, old rewireable fuse boxes, no RCD protection, sockets that have discoloured or scorched, repeated tripping, or an EICR that has returned C1 or C2 codes. Landlords often reach us after a mandatory five-year inspection, and buyers frequently call following a survey that flags the installation as end-of-life. Rewiring is notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations and must be designed, installed and tested to BS 7671. Poorly executed wiring is a genuine fire and shock risk, and DIY or uncertificated work causes problems at resale and with insurers. As an NICEIC-approved contractor, we design each installation around how you actually use the property, test every circuit on completion, notify building control and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate. Whether you have just bought a period property in Sherwood or you are extending a semi in West Bridgford, we will survey the existing installation and give you a clear written quotation before any work starts.

  • Fixed EICR prices from £99+VAT. See what the price covers before you book.

Fixed EICR prices from £99+VAT. See what the price covers before you book.

An EICR costs from £99+VAT for a studio flat, £130+VAT for a 1-3 bedroom home, £180+VAT for a 4-5 bedroom property, and £210+VAT for a 6 bedroom property. The price is set by the number of circuits in the installation rather than by floor area, which is why a large open-plan flat can cost less to inspect than a small older house that has had circuits added over the years. Larger homes, HMOs and commercial premises are quoted individually, because circuit counts vary too much for a single published figure to be honest. Those are our fixed prices across Nottingham and the East Midlands. The figure you are quoted is the figure you pay. The inspection price does not change if the report comes back unsatisfactory, and any remedial work found is quoted separately, so you are free to have it done by someone else. An EICR is also called an electrical safety certificate, a periodic inspection report, or a landlord electrical certificate. They are the same document: a formal assessment of the condition of a fixed electrical installation, carried out against BS 7671, the national wiring regulations. It covers the consumer unit, the fixed wiring, sockets, switches and light fittings, earthing and bonding, and the protective devices that are supposed to disconnect a circuit when something goes wrong. It does not cover portable appliances, which are tested separately under PAT. Every circuit is tested individually, which is the single biggest factor in what an inspection costs. Access matters too. A consumer unit blocked by a cupboard, or a loft that has been boarded over, adds time. Older installations often carry circuits added over decades that were never recorded, so there is more to trace. The report records observations using four codes. C1 means danger is present and there is an immediate risk of injury. C2 means potentially dangerous. C3 is an improvement recommendation and does not make a report unsatisfactory on its own. FI means further investigation is required. A report is classed as unsatisfactory if it contains any C1, C2 or FI observation, and the remedial work needed to make it satisfactory is quoted separately from the inspection fee. Private landlords in England have had a legal duty since the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 to hold a valid EICR for each rented property, renewed at least every five years, with a copy given to tenan Ready to book? You can arrange your Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) online in a few minutes, with your price confirmed before you pay.

  • Industrial Electrician

    Industrial Electrician

Industrial sites have different electrical demands to a typical office or retail unit — higher power loads, three-phase supplies, and equipment that genuinely can't afford unplanned downtime. A fault on a production line or a failed distribution board doesn't just mean an inconvenience, it means lost output, and that changes what "electrical work" actually needs to deliver on an industrial site. Our NICEIC-approved electricians provide industrial electrical services across Nottingham and the East Midlands, covering warehouses, factories, and manufacturing sites, from planned maintenance contracts to emergency fault response. We work with three-phase electrical systems, distribution boards, and higher-capacity circuits that most domestic and general commercial electricians don't handle day to day, and we understand that industrial work often needs to happen around your operational hours, not whenever suits us — planned maintenance and installations are scheduled to minimise disruption to production wherever possible. Beyond one-off jobs, we offer ongoing planned maintenance contracts designed to catch developing faults before they cause unplanned downtime, alongside EICR inspections scoped for industrial premises, including their larger distribution boards and higher-demand circuits. If something does go wrong outside of a scheduled visit, our emergency response covers critical electrical faults across Nottingham and the East Midlands, so a failed circuit doesn't sit unresolved while production waits. Every job — whether it's a single distribution board upgrade, a full EICR, or an ongoing maintenance relationship — is completed to BS 7671 wiring standards, with fixed pricing agreed before any work begins, so unplanned electrical costs don't catch your operation off guard. Book a site assessment online today, or call to discuss your industrial site's specific electrical requirements.

  • Intruder Alarm Installation

    Intruder Alarm Installation

Most burglar alarms fail for one of two reasons: they are triggered so often by pets, draughts or badly aimed detectors that everyone learns to ignore them, or they are set to a specification that turns out not to satisfy the insurer when a claim is made. Urgent Electrical Services installs intruder alarm systems across Nottingham and the East Midlands that are specified around your building and your insurance position rather than a standard package. Before quoting, we establish how the property is used, where the genuine entry points are, whether pets have the run of the house at night, and — critically — what your policy actually requires. Some insurers specify a system grade or a particular response arrangement, and fitting the wrong one can leave you technically uninsured. Systems are designed with detector types matched to each space. Pet-tolerant detectors where animals roam, door and window contacts on vulnerable openings, shock sensors where forced entry is the likely method, and zoning so you can set the ground floor while sleeping upstairs. Getting this right is what separates an alarm you use from one you stop setting after a fortnight of false activations. You choose how the system responds. A bells-only alarm sounds locally and deters. A monitored system alerts a receiving centre or sends notifications to your phone, which suits empty premises, second properties and businesses where nobody is nearby to hear a siren. We explain the ongoing cost of each honestly, including where monitoring is genuinely worth the subscription and where it is not. All wiring, supply and standby power is installed to BS 7671 by NICEIC-approved engineers, and the control equipment is sited where an intruder cannot reach it before the system activates. You are handed a working system you understand, with codes set up, users configured and the whole thing demonstrated properly rather than left with a manual.

  • Outdoor Socket Installation & Replacement Nottingham

Outdoor Socket Installation & Replacement Nottingham

Need a reliable power point outside your home? An outdoor socket makes it much easier to use garden equipment, power tools, pressure washers, lawnmowers, outdoor entertainment and other electrical equipment without running extension leads through doors or windows. At Urgent Electrical, we install and replace outdoor sockets for homeowners across Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Whether you need a new socket installed in your garden or an existing outdoor socket has become damaged, unreliable or outdated, we can provide a suitable solution based on how you use your outdoor space. Outdoor sockets need to be suitable for external use and installed with the correct protection. We consider the position of the socket, how it will be used and the most practical route for the electrical supply before carrying out the work. We can install outdoor sockets on properties including gardens, patios, garages, outbuildings and other suitable external areas. Multiple sockets can also be installed where you regularly need power in different parts of the garden. If your existing outdoor socket is cracked, damaged, loose, not working correctly or showing signs of deterioration, replacement may be a better option than continuing to use it. We can assess the existing installation and advise on the most suitable solution. Our process starts with an online E-Survey, allowing you to provide details about where you need the socket and what you intend to use it for. Once we've reviewed the information, we'll provide a clear quotation and arrange a suitable installation date. Whether you're creating a better outdoor space, replacing an old socket or simply want a convenient source of power in your garden, we can install an outdoor socket that's designed around how you actually use your home.

  • Residential Electrician

    Residential Electrician

Your home's electrical system needs to work reliably every single day — from the lights in every room to the sockets powering everything you rely on, often without a second thought until something stops working. Our NICEIC-approved residential electricians handle the full range of home electrical work across Nottingham, from small repairs and additional sockets through to full domestic electrical services, consumer unit upgrades, and fault finding, so you're not left juggling different tradespeople for different jobs, or trying to explain the same problem to someone new each time. Whether you've just moved into an older property and aren't sure about the state of the wiring, you're planning a renovation that needs new circuits designed properly from the start, or you simply want a reliable electrician for ongoing work like an electric shower installation or EV charger, we're set up to handle it. Older Nottingham homes in particular often carry wiring that hasn't been touched in decades, and we can assess exactly what state yours is in with a full EICR before recommending anything, rather than assuming the worst or the best. Every job, whether it's fitting a single extra socket or rewiring a whole property, is quoted at a fixed price before we start, so there's no ambiguity once work is underway. We're fully insured, NICEIC approved, and every installation is tested and certified to current BS 7671 (18th Edition) wiring standards. Same-day emergency callouts are available alongside scheduled work, and we cover homes across Nottingham and areas including Arnold, Beeston, and Aspley. Book your residential electrician online today, or call to discuss what your home actually needs.

  • Security Lighting Installation

    Security Lighting Installation

Outdoor security lighting is one of the simplest, most effective ways to deter intruders and improve safety around your home or business. A well-lit entrance, driveway, or side passage removes the darkness that makes a property an easy target, and reduces the risk of trips and falls after dark for family, staff, or visitors. But security lighting only works if it's positioned correctly and wired safely — a poorly placed motion sensor that triggers on passing cars, or a floodlight fitted without proper outdoor-rated wiring, does more harm than good. Our NICEIC-approved electricians install security lighting across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, from single PIR motion-sensor units for a driveway or side entrance, to full floodlight and dusk-to-dawn systems for larger properties, gardens, or commercial premises. We start by assessing your property to identify genuine blind spots and vulnerable entry points, rather than simply fitting a light wherever's easiest, and every installation is wired to outdoor-rated (IP-rated) standards and fully tested before we leave. We also repair and service existing security lighting — a common call-out, since sensors that stop detecting motion, floodlights that stay on constantly, or wiring faults from weather exposure are all issues we regularly fix without needing a full replacement. Whether you're adding security lighting to a home for the first time, upgrading an outdated system, or fitting perimeter and car park lighting for a business, every job is quoted at a fixed price before work begins, with full certification provided on completion. Book your security lighting installation online today for fast, NICEIC-approved fitting across Nottingham and the East Midlands.

  • Smoke Alarm Installation & Replacement Nottingham

Smoke alarms play an important role in protecting your home, but like any electrical product, they can become faulty, outdated or reach the end of their recommended service life. We provide smoke alarm installation and replacement throughout Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Whether you're replacing an existing alarm, upgrading an older system or installing additional alarms, we'll help you find a suitable solution for your property. We can install mains-powered, battery-powered and interlinked smoke alarms, as well as heat alarms where appropriate. If you already have a mains-powered or interconnected system, we'll take the existing installation into consideration when selecting replacement alarms to ensure everything works together correctly. If your smoke alarm is regularly beeping, failing when tested, showing signs of damage or simply getting old, it may be time for a replacement. We can assess the existing alarm, identify any issues and carry out the necessary installation or replacement. We also work with landlords who need smoke alarms installed or replaced in rental properties. Requirements can vary depending on the type of property and its existing installation, so we'll establish what is required before any work takes place. Getting started is simple. Book an online E-Survey and provide us with some details about what you need. This allows us to understand the job before arranging the work and means you don't necessarily need to wait in for someone just to provide an initial assessment. Once we've reviewed your requirements, we'll provide a quotation. If you're happy to proceed, we'll arrange a suitable date for the installation. On completion, the alarms will be tested to make sure they're operating correctly. Whether you need a single smoke alarm replaced or you're looking to upgrade the alarms throughout your property, you can arrange everything through our online booking system.
