CCTV Installation

Overview

What this service covers and when to book

A camera system is only worth having if the footage stands up when you actually need it. Too many installations in Nottingham are sold on camera count alone, then produce grainy night-time images that identify nobody and recordings that overwrite themselves before anyone thinks to look.

Urgent Electrical Services designs and installs CCTV across Nottingham and the East Midlands with the emphasis on usable evidence. We survey the property first, establish what each camera is actually meant to achieve, and position equipment to suit — a camera covering an entrance for facial identification needs different placement and lens choice from one monitoring a yard for general activity.

Our installations use IP cameras recording to a network video recorder, with infrared or low-light capability sized to the darkness of the location rather than the specification sheet. Cabling is run properly and discreetly, terminated to standard, and powered from a protected supply so the system does not silently drop offline. You get remote viewing on your phone, configured and demonstrated before we leave, and recording retention set to a period that suits your risk rather than whatever the box defaulted to.

Because we are electrical contractors first, the supply, containment and earthing side is done to BS 7671 rather than left to a security fitter working around your electrics. That matters most on commercial sites where cameras share containment with other services.

We install for homeowners concerned about vehicles and access, landlords managing shared entrances at multi-occupancy properties, and businesses covering retail floors, warehouses, yards and loading bays. Every system is handed over with a written record of camera positions and coverage, which is what you will need if you are asked to demonstrate GDPR compliance as a business operator.

Systems can be extended later as premises change. We keep installations to open standards wherever possible, so you are not locked into one manufacturer or forced to replace a working recorder to add two cameras.

How it works

From your call to a clear repair plan

  1. 01

    Site survey and coverage plan

An engineer walks the property with you, identifies what each camera needs to achieve, and checks light levels, mounting points and cable routes. You get a plan showing camera positions and the field of view each one covers.

  2. 02

    Written fixed quotation

We confirm the equipment, number of cameras, recording retention period and total price in writing. Nothing is added later, and we will tell you plainly if fewer cameras positioned better would serve you just as well.

  3. 03

    Installation and cabling

Cameras are mounted and cabled back to the recorder, with runs concealed where practical and containment used where not. Power is taken from a protected supply and all electrical work is carried out to BS 7671.

  4. 04

    Configuration and testing

We set recording schedules, retention, motion zones and night-time exposure, then test every camera in both daylight and darkness to confirm the image is genuinely usable rather than merely present.

  5. 05

    Handover and remote access

We install the mobile app, connect it to your system and show you how to review, export and share footage. You receive a written record of camera positions and coverage for your files.

  6. 06

    Aftercare

Twelve-month warranty on installed equipment. We can return to reposition cameras, add units or recover footage if you need help producing evidence.
