Terms & Conditions of Service

1. Understanding These Terms

 1.⁠ ⁠These terms govern the provision of *emergency* and *scheduled* electrical services, including the supply of materials (“Goods”) needed to complete work (“Services”).
 2.⁠ ⁠Defined terms are capitalised. *“Emergency Services”* = immediate attention; *“Scheduled Services”* = pre-booked.
 3.⁠ ⁠“We/us/our” refers to Urgent Electrical Services; “you/your” refers to the customer—either a *Consumer* (personal use) or a *Business* (trade use).

2. How You Order Services

 1.⁠ ⁠Contact us by phone or email to request Services and schedule a visit.
 2.⁠ ⁠Emergency Services: we quote hourly labour and materials rates at booking—Contract starts when you accept.
 3.⁠ ⁠Scheduled Services: We perform an Inspection and issue a Written Estimate; the Contract starts when you accept and pay as per clauses 4.6–4.7.
 4.⁠ ⁠Estimates expire 30 days after issue unless the Services are completed earlier.

3. Cancellation (Consumers Only)

 1.⁠ ⁠To cancel, notify us (phone/email). We’ll confirm receipt.
 2.⁠ ⁠You must pay for any work done and non-refundable goods ordered up to cancellation.
 3.⁠ ⁠Refunds owed will be made within *14 days* of your cancellation.
 4.⁠ ⁠To cancel or reschedule a scheduled booking, please inform us 48 hours before your scheduled booking; otherwise, you may incur charges for goods or travel time.
5. To cancel an emergency booking, please let us know as soon as possible. 50% of the emergency call-out fee will be charged.
6. ⁠An emergency booking cannot be rescheduled.

4. Charges & Payment

 1.⁠ ⁠*Emergency Services*: Hourly labour (minimum 1 hour booking, billed 30-minute increments).
 2.⁠ ⁠*Scheduled Services*:

  * Verbal Estimate: final cost can exceed by up to 10%.
  * Written Estimate: final cost can exceed by up to 20% (unless material prices change).
 3.⁠ ⁠Insurance reports (if needed) cost *£250 + VAT*.
 4.⁠ ⁠A *1% + VAT transaction fee* applies to all payments.
 5.⁠ ⁠If additional Services or Goods are needed, we’ll get your approval before continuing.
 6.⁠ ⁠VAT is charged at the current rate.
 7.⁠ ⁠Payment terms:

  * Emergency: full upfront.
  * Scheduled Verbal Estimate: 50% on booking, balance on completion.
  * Scheduled Written Estimate: 50% on booking, balance on completion.
  * Jobs over £20k: staged payments weekly.
  * Business clients (pre-approved accounts): under £1k—30 days; over £1k—50% upfront, balance on completion.
 8.⁠ ⁠Payment methods: card, bank transfer (instant), cash. No cheques.
 9.⁠ ⁠No deductions from your payment are allowed unless required by law.
10.⁠ ⁠For businesses, we may offset invoices.
11.⁠ ⁠Late payments incur *4% + Bank of England base rate* interest from due date.

5. Your Obligations

You must:

•⁠  ⁠Provide clear access, power, water, and a safe working space.
•⁠  ⁠Share any building plans (e.g., wiring).
•⁠  ⁠Obtain necessary permissions (e.g., building, landlord, permissions for site access).
•⁠  ⁠Inform us of any hazards (e.g., asbestos, live wires).
•⁠  ⁠Provide parking or access permits if needed.

Failure to meet these may result in extra charges or Contract termination. Delivered Goods become your responsibility upon arrival (insured as per clause 5.3).

6. Our Obligations

 1.⁠ ⁠Services performed with *reasonable care and skill*.
 2.⁠ ⁠Business clients must notify us in writing within *12 months* if work is defective—allowing us to inspect and remediate.
 3.⁠ ⁠We offer a *12-month workmanship guarantee*, excluding misuse, third-party tampering, or very old installations (>10 years).
 4.⁠ ⁠Manufacturer’s warranties on Goods apply separately.
 5.⁠ ⁠We’re not liable for customer-supplied materials’ quality.
 6.⁠ ⁠Work hours: Emergency—24/7. Scheduled—08:00–16:30. Additional hours by mutual agreement.

7. Termination

 1.⁠ ⁠We may end the Contract if you breach terms and don’t remedy (after notice), or on cancellation (per clauses 3.1–3.9).
 2.⁠ ⁠If terminated, we refund unused charges, and you pay for completed Services/Goods.
 3.⁠ ⁠Outstanding payments are due immediately after termination.

8. Privacy of Your Personal Data

We only use your personal data as described in our *\[Privacy Policy]*(link), which should be read alongside these Terms.

9. Miscellaneous

 1.⁠ ⁠If a clause is invalid, the rest remain valid.
 2.⁠ ⁠Waiver of a breach does not waive future rights.
 3.⁠ ⁠Only written amendments signed by both parties are valid.
 4.⁠ ⁠Complaints: Contact us (below).
 5.⁠ ⁠Consumer: We may transfer our rights; you can cancel within 3 days if you disagree.
 6.⁠ ⁠Business: entire agreement; notices per clause 12; no third-party rights; restrictions on assignment apply.

10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

English law applies.
